My father, John Francis Mintz, was a builder who prided himself on hard work and quality craftsmanship. Starting in junior high, I went to work with my father after school. Working with him and his team, I learned all phases of the construction industry along with his work ethic. Digging footings, laying blocks, framing, roofing, cabinet making, and trim work were some of my first experiences with construction.
In 1969, after graduating from East Henderson High School, I joined the Marine Corps. In 1971, I returned home and went to work with my brothers Preston and Seldon. Over the next 18 years, we built both residential and commercial buildings, giving me the hands-on experience I would never have received from a text book.
In 1986, after earning my General Contractor’s License, I started my first spec house. This house sold on the second day of construction to Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Bistline, from Columbia, South Carolina.
In 2005, my son, Sean, graduated from UNC Charlotte with a Degree in Business Management. In 2013 Sean earned his NASCLA Contractor’s License and has taken over numerous management positions. Sean’s hard work has paid off and he is now ready to carry on this family tradition of Pride and Quality Workmanship.
